Though hummingbirds appear small in stature, these birds can have a large personality. They are not afraid to defend their territory from other birds, insects or even human beings. On the other hand, if you sit still and offer them a treat, you might be lucky enough to have one land in your hand. Get your feeders out early to attract birds that are migrating north. If they like your offerings, you might be able to coax a few into staying the entire summer.
